Peanut Butter and Jelly Roll Ups!!!

While visiting my sister and brother in law a few weeks ago I was introduced to a new take on an old classic!  They have young boys who have trouble with sandwiches so they have started making pb and j roll ups!  I love the idea so much that's how we now make our pb and j and I decided I would share the idea with you!  Let me know what you think!

What you need.

Have to roll the bread flat!

Sully loves this job!!!

Now that our bread is flat!!!

Add your peanut butter, but not too much!  And make sure you have it from end to end so when you roll it up the peanut butter acts like a glue that makes the roll stay together!!!

Very lightly on the jelly now and leave a little room on the end that's just peanut butter for that glue seam I was talking about.

Roll it!

Roll it!

All done!

Enjoy!  Great food for kids and grown ups alike!!!  It's a very mobile version of peanut butter and jelly and as much as my kids run around easily carried foods are great!

I redid my flower bed!!!

Recently I redid the flower bed in front of my house!  I just packed it with petunias!!  Can't wait for them to take off.  The flowers are purple and I did black mulch.  I love the contrast!  Here are some before and after pictures.  What do you think?

We had loads of fun!!!  Can't wait we are gonna take Sully to an actual game this year.  Fallon needs another year though.

The Deanna Rose Farmstead!!!

Well as I have said a few weeks ago we went to The Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead for some fun while in KC!  It was a neat place.  The kids had a blast.  They have chickens, and cows, and goats, and all kinds of farm animals.  You can also fish, ride ponies, go on a hay ride, or feed a baby goat a bottle of milk among loads of other things.  We didn't get to see everything so we are gonna go back again before the summer ends and do more but for now here are a few pics of what we did get to see and do!  Enjoy!

P.S.  Funniest story from our visit at the farmstead came when my son saw the ponies and wanted to ride one very badly, so we got in line, waited, and when we got to the front and he saw the pony there in front of him, he changed his mind very quickly and booked it to daddy who was waiting on the other side of the gate....that was a safer place than right there next to the pony I guess LOL!

Where have we been?!

Well, we have been running, and playing, and digging in dirt, and soaking up the sun!  The sun is supposed to be disappearing for a few days and we are supposed to have lots of rain and I promise to write a longer post then.  It's much to hard to stay in and blog when the weather is so pretty outside.  Hope you are having a great week so far and here are a few pics of what we have been up to!

At the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead!

My pretty redone flower bed!

We got a turtle sandbox!!!!

Thursday we became the proud new owners of a turtle sandbox!  The kids love it and got plenty of toys to play with in it for Easter!  I was sad because I didn't know if they would be able to play with it at all yesterday and we got lucky enough that we did get some play time in it yesterday.  They are loving it so far!  Here are a few pics from their playtime yesterday.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!  We are headed to Kansas City today for our nephew's 3rd birthday and then have plans to go to The Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead Sunday before heading home.  Can't wait to show pics and tell you guys about our trip!

Marigold update!

Remember when we planted our Marigolds?  Well Sully has been watering his flowers every other day!  With a little help from mommy's reminding voice that is, and they are really coming along!  We have plants sprouting up in all our pots!  See?!

Sully..who else!

My son is something!  He is really coming into this attitude.  Thinks he's much older than he is I think.  See yesterday we went shopping and normally this is fun for me, I get to pick out everything and he just wears it..all this bliss changed for me yesterday.  We were at Target and I had already gotten a few things for Fallon and was checking out stuff for Sully.  We came across some shirts I liked and as I was looking through them Sully found one of his own that he liked much more than mine, so he picked out his shirt all on his own.  I started looking at more shirts and as always I picked out two and turned to him to let him have the final pick of the two.  His response to the shirts I picked out, "Mom those shirts suck!"  Ouch!  That response hurt!  So I let him pick out his own clothes for the very first time yesterday.  He did a good job!  Didn't pick out anything horrible or bad but it's just proof that my little baby is growing up.  He's gotten so big and that was just one more step into his little world of independence.

Below is a pic of one of the shirts he picked out!  He is very into guitars so most all of his clothing at the moment has some form of a guitar on it!

Courtney and Josh!

This post is dedicated to my little sister and her boyfriend...I mean fiance!  He proposed to her last night and she said yes and I am thrilled for them!  So happy she has moved on from the last douche and is doing so good in her life.  Josh is truely a great guy.  I say he reminds me of a puppy with his big brown eyes and his sweet disposition and I am happy he is gonna be joining the family.  So congratulations to this newly engaged couple!  I wish them loads of love and happiness!!!

No such thing as a serious picture with these two silly kids!!!  Love you guys!!!

I-Phone App girl!

Was perusing the net today and came across this girl's youtube videos!  I think it's really neat what she is doing!  She uses I-Phone Apps to do the music to songs and then she sings them.  NEATO!!!   Can't wait to show Ryan when he gets home.  He's gonna get a kick out of this!  The girl is a pretty decent singer too.  Anywho enjoy!

P.S. If you scroll to the bottom of the page you will find my music player.  Hit pause and check her out!

Ryan (Part1)

Well now, I know some of you don't know this story!  How did Ryan and I meet?  I mean we are this boring old married couple now with two kids, and a dog, and blah blah blah, but the story of how we met is at least a tiny bit interesting!  Anywho here goes!

I have to start a little ways back and build up to our story but we will get there I promise!

When I graduated from HS life was pretty insane!  I moved to Pittsburg...Kansas that is...and moved into a house with two roommates, both of whom had boyfriends who practically lived at our house instead of their own, was enrolled at FSCC, and on the hunt for a job close to where I was living.  I had a job whenever I needed it at my dad's restaurant but that was a forty-five minute drive away and I needed something closer to me.  On top of all of these new changes my boyfriend of almost two years and I had in our growing processes managed to move four hours away from one another!  So life was pretty rough for me at this moment in time. After a short while though, I managed to find a job at Pizza Hut.  Right down the street and within walking distance from my house!  The boyfriend and I had worked out a schedule and things were going good, things were alright with the roommates, and even school was alright.  Things had started to look up!  Seems to me about the time they started to look up they started to look right back down again.

I wasn't making enough from my Pizza Hut gig to cover my bills so I had to start looking for a third job!  I, at this point, was working for my dad, Pizza Hut, and had finally managed to find a job at the movie theater in an attempt to cover all my bills and my own fun expenses...see folks Amber had taken up the nasty habit of smoking (which I have quit now at least), and at four bucks a pack that stuff ain't cheap!  Anyway, between school and three jobs there wasn't a lot of time for the boyfriend and we weren't doing so hot together.  So in one final ditch attempt to fix our troubles I drove the four hours to see him.

I only had a day.  I drove up, we hung out, I got to stay the night, and then I had to leave the next morning so I could get back in time for class that afternoon.  This visit didn't go well and the trip ended in us ending our two year relationship.  It was great...NOT!   I had a four hour drive back home to think about all I had done to ruin things between the two of us.  I was miserable.  I held my shit together long enough to make the trip to my best friend's house and once I got there, I cried like a big baby.  Cried until there seemed to be no more liquid in my body.  I felt as though my heart had been ripped out, shredded, chewed up, spit out, and stomped on.  During all this crying I managed to miss the class that I was supposed to go to but did remember that I had to work.  I couldn't lose my job, I had to be there.  So I pulled myself up by my bootstraps, made the rest of my journey home, took a long hot shower, and got ready for work.

Work that night was dead slow, and when you are waitressing dead slow means hanging out being bored.  My co-worker and I who had been slowly becoming friends got to chatting during this boring time and she happened to ask how my trip to see my boyfriend went.  At the mention of his name all bad thoughts came back into play and the tears started streaming hot and evil down my face.  They gave me away.  Showed the pain I was trying to hide until back in the privacy of my own room.  I did my best to stop the tears and tell my friend what was wrong.  I explained the break up, and the drive home, and how horrible and depressed I was feeling, how crawling into a hole and dieing sounded really fun for me right about then.  She did her best to make me laugh.  So did all my other co-workers.  I was this sad little sap who needed cheering up and they did their best.  Shaunisty (my co-worker friend) had the best idea of all, "Come to my house." she said, "I'm having a party.  Come drink your sorrows away."  I liked that idea.  A night of booze and self-pity sounded right up my alley.  I told her I would come to her party and she was happy to have given me something to do, aside from sit alone and cry.  She even said there would be some cute boys there, sounded like fun to me.   Even though the boy notion didn't interest me too much, as I still only had room in my heart and my head for one boy.

I left work that night feeling no happier than when I had gone in.  I was still boyfriendless, and felt terribly alone.  Even the prospect of the party didn't make me smile.  I got home and was gonna cancel but then decided the free booze sounded like a good fixer for my problem.  Plus, I didn't want to be in the house with my roommates and their lovey dovey boyfriends.  Yuck it made me sick.  So I got cleaned up and headed to Shaunisty's house.

Once at the party I realized that the only person I knew was Shaunisty, and I honestly didn't know her that well.  Great opportunity to meet new people, not the smartest time to get smashed off my ass.  So I sat back and watched everyone else drink.  About an hour into the party Shaunisty and I were chatting, and to keep my mind busy I asked about these cute guys she had said were coming.  See at this point the party mostly consisted of girls and a few black fellas, and no offense but I am a white meat kind of girl.  She explained that her friend Ryan and his buddies were on their way and would be stopping in soon.  She seemed to think that Ryan was a stud and so cute but when he finally arrived I must admit, I didn't get it.  I thought he was funny looking and had zero interest in this boy.  He and his friends showed up half smashed and they had their toenails painted.  Yes I did just say their toenails were painted!  I had no interest.  On top of the break up they were just not my type at all.  So since my interest was lost fairly quickly in the new comers I went back to my small talk and when a new drinking game began I decided to join in the fun!  The drinking game didn't go far though because we ran out of booze.  So discussions started about who had booze and who could drive them to get it.  I became the DD as I was the only sober person there, and as luck would have it Ryan had a good amount of alcohol at his house we just had to go pick it up.

So here I am, a young girl heading to a strange guy's place to pick up booze for a party I wasn't even interested in at that point.  Now that I think back on this though I realize it's a good thing Ryan wasn't a murderer or rapist because my dumb butt went alone with this six foot four, 275 pound gentle giant, to his house.  He had given me half slurred directions and we had managed to make it to his place and I even managed to get him inside.  He was drunk enough he was stumbling through the place, yet sober enough he still knew part of what he was doing.  I got a tour and was even introduced to his gorgeous husky Blue.  Part of the tour that he doesn't remember giving was his bedroom.  The boy tried to sleep with me that night and he doesn't even remember it!  Actually,  he doesn't remember the trip to his house much at all.  After the failed attempt to sleep with me, the tour, letting the dog out to do her buisness, and retrieving the alcohol we headed back to the party.

We pulled back in and people had started to scatter.  The party was winding down and the alcohol we had just retrieved wasn't even needed.  So we plopped ourselves down on the porch and began chatting with Ryan's friends, Dave and Murph.  I decided they were fun guys!  Maybe not my type for a date but they were all sweet, and kind, and good for a laugh in my time of need.  At one point Ryan even mentioned that we should have taken his car to his house instead of mine.  I said, "Well which car is yours?"  He pointed to a very pretty white trans am that I kind of fell in love with.  It was because of that car I gave him my number.  I had no interest in him, just in his car, and taking it for a spin.  After drooling a little more over his car I decided I wanted to go home.  You see I was still single, and broken hearted.  I had fun and the party did take my mind off things for a while, but I was still aching inside and needed to be alone.  I promised to call Shaunisty the next day, and Ryan even said he would call me sometime soon, and with those promises made I left the party and headed for my house.

Once home I figured I wouldn't hear from Ryan and that didn't bother me.  I wasn't ready for a relationship.  I wasn't ready to do anything but cry over the love I had just lost.  I cried myself to sleep that night and awoke the next day around noonish to my phone ringing.  When checking my phone I saw a message that I would see a lot in the near future: Ryan calling.

*Stay tuned for the tale of how it was we came to be a couple*

Howdy!

Sorry posts are few and far between here lately...hard to take the time to sit down and write a blog when I just want to be playing outside with the monsters!  We have been spending loads of time playing with water, and bubbles, and bikes, and the dog, and sidewalk chalk, and taking walks, it's fun and it wears the kiddos out so mommy and daddy get a little extra quiet time at night!  I hope you are out enjoying the weather as much as we have been!  Bye Bye for now!

Sick, Sick, Sick!

First the kids got it, then yesterday I got it, and now today Ry has it.  Oh how I wish this nasty awful flu would vacate my house ASAP!    Promise to post more once it has....until then I am playing nurse and janitor.

The end of Ry's vacation and Easter weekend (Part 2)!!!

Sorry I know this is a day late but both of the kiddos got a flu bug and I spent all day yesterday cleaning up puke.  Oh the joys of being a mommy!  They are both doing much better today.  Running around being their normal crazy selves!!!  Anywho onto the update and pics!

Saturday

The day started off very slow for us.  Seemed that getting around Saturday morning was just a slow going process.  We wanted to leave Pittsburg at 10 and left at noon haha.  Got our stuff loaded, saw our mobile home, said our goodbyes, and got on the road for the MC!

Once in Mound City we made a quick stop by my friend Annie's house to drop off clothes that I had for her boys and baby girl, then went to my parent's house.  We hung out and got to meet their new puppy Twinkle.  What a cute puppy she is!  I'm sad I didn't take any pics of her.  Seemed once we got to MC my camera didn't come out of hiding very often...I was just too busy to get many pics.  Anywho after hanging out for a bit my grandparents came over and we had dinner and got to catch up with them a little bit before heading out to my Aunt Keri and Uncle Dan's petting zoo!

They have goats, turkey, calves, sheep, St. Bernards, emus, chickens, and I think that's it.  Boy did Sully have fun out there.  He couldn't believe the chickens....made me realize I totally have city kids, he had never seen a live chicken before in person haha.  He also got to pet Maybelle the bottle calf, ride a four wheeler with Cousin Luke, and I don't know what else he got to see because I was too occupied playing with the day old baby goats!  We had loads of fun out there wish we could have stayed longer but we had to get going because Annie and her little brood were expecting us!

We arrived at the Wallace house a few minutes late but honestly that's pretty typical for us, we seem to never be on time!  It was a nice visit with Annie, Scott, Colton, Dakota, and Haelie.  The kiddos played and played and the adults played and played...cards that is.  I think a good time was had by all!  After Dakota and Colton fell asleep and Fallon looked as though she may pass out and second from exhaustion we decided it best we get back to my parent's house and get to sleep.  Plus the Easter bunny still had eggs to fill and baskets to set up!

Back at my parent's house we got the kiddos all ready for bed and Ryan laid down with them, while I played Easter bunny.  After the kids and Ryan were asleep and the Easter bunny was all ready for his/her visit I finally got to pass out round 1 am.

Sunday

Talk about a busy day!  Since there was soo much involved in this day I'm gonna just give a quick play by play.

First thing was doing an Easter hunt to find out what the Easter bunny brought the munchkins!  They had lots of fun with that!

Second thing packing for the trip home.

Third was dinner at GG and GG Spencer's house.

Fourth was a visit to GG and GG Workman's house.

Lastly we headed for home!

Got home around seven that night and went to bed early from exhaustion to be awakened at 2am to a puking Sully.  Have been dealing with sick kids ever since.  Took loads of pics so had to do a slideshow!  First half is the trip to see Ry's side of the family and the second half is my side of the family!  Enjoy!

The end of Ry's vacation and Easter weekend (Part 1)!!!

Since I have time and it's fresh in my mind I'm updating before Monday!  Yay!

Thursday

Friday was an insanely busy day in which I spent a good nine hours in the car.  First had to get everything at home packed, get everyone in the car, and then get one the road!  We got headed towards our destination (Pittsuburg,KS) and because we are so incredibly lucky both of our chilren fell asleep almost instantly!!!  About two hours into our almost four hour drive both munchkins woke up.  This wans't a bad thing necessarily because I had plans in place to keep them busy.  Well keeping Fallon busy is never an easy task but she was content until she threw up.  We discovered on this trip that Fallon has car sickness.  At least now that we know this we know the warning signs that tell us the puke is coming but hopefully since we now have this bit of information we can prevent it by keeping her occupied in the car.  We eventually reached our destination and immdiately had to hop in the car and head off to our first stop to have dinner with my brother in law, his wife, and their two girls.  It was a fun evening and it was nice getting to spend time with them...would have been much nicer had our daughter (who is hitting her terrible twos a bit early) not thrown a good hour long tantrum.  That girl is getting to be quite the fit thrower.  YAY us!!!  NOT!!  She is driving me nuts..have to step back and breath every now and again.  Anywho off my rant, we got done with dinner, dropped the kids, and Ryan off at my mother-in-law's house and she and I headed off to Kansas City.  My husband's Aunt Jackie and Cousin Kayla flew in from Milwakuee and they needed someone to pick them up so I offered to go with my mother-in-law to pick them up as she was tired and needed the company.  We got up to KC and I got to venture into an airport for the first time ever...yes I live a sheltered life...have never been on a plane or in an airport....anywho, we got them picked up, got back to Pittsburg, and climbed into bed by a late, late 2:30am.

Friday

Today started early....we had a huge dinner here at Ry's mom's house with lots of family!  It was fun and exhausting!  Ryan smoked ribs and chicken and we had loads of sides and had a huge and yummy meal!!  It was neat to see 8 of the 10 cousins in the family together but 8 kids ranging in age from 6 weeks to 12 years old made for one wild, crazy, and noisy time!  I am exhausted and ready for sleep but before I head to bed I have to get Fallon's carseat all cleaned up because tomorrow we need it clean to continue on our journey.  Tomorrow's stop: Mound City, KS!  Can't wait to see family there and celebrate Easter on Sunday!  Look for a new post and pics about the rest of our fun on Monday!  Happy Easter all!

A little water, bubbles, sidwalk chalk, and FUN!

Today we went outside.  It was gorgeous and warm enough to play with some water!  Both of our kids love water!  They are like little fish, so we decided to get out some water and it ended in a huge water fight, in which we all got soaked!  I don't think we could have had more fun.  We did do a little sidewalk chalk stuff  (which was washed away during the water play before I could take pics of the artwork) and played with bubbles, but the water was the most fun!  Enjoy the pics and I will see you on Monday!  Heading out of town to visit family for Easter tomorrow so I won't be posting again until Monday.  Have a great rest of the week and a very Happy Easter everyone!!!
